Este tipo de piscinas fueron creadas en las Olimpiadas de 1972 de Munich. El agua de la piscina desborda por igual por todo el perímetro de la piscina, y es recogida por una canaleta. Se crea un efecto en el que el nivel del agua se sitúa a la misma altura que el de la terraza. Son piscinas más estéticas y con un sistema de limpieza más efectivo. También son más caras pues precisan un segundo depósito de almacenamiento de agua.
